Regis Alawarra Lodge - Blackburn South
220 Middleborough Road
Blackburn South Victoria 3130
Elegant and spacious, Regis
Alawarra Lodge is set right in the heart of Regis Inala Village in
the leafy Melbourne suburb of Blackburn South.
This beautiful contemporary
building boasts the largest footprint for any residence in
Victoria, primarily because each bedroom overlooks the garden. With
99 single, en suited bedrooms, this adds up to a great many views
and a very large expanse of garden.
The low care and dementia specific
facility is a joy to be inside, with its interior courtyard,
barbecue and sun area, activities room and each wing decorated in
its own colour of an overall palate of blue, gold and green.
Our two dining rooms provide all
our residents with far more than a pleasant dining experience.
Every meal is a chance to get together, catch up on recent events
and strengthen friendships.
A recent addition is our men's
craft group, which takes place in our tool shed. The local Bunnings
store continues to be extremely helpful and generous, providing the
practical kits and materials for our men to make dolls houses,
rocking horses, go-karts and tool boxes. We're also very lucky to
have a retired carpenter as a resident here who has an interest in
the upkeep of the tool shed.
Other inclusions at Alawarra Lodge
are our own physiotherapy gym, doctor's surgery and a
dementia-specific secure unit, which is home to a small number of
residents. These well-cared for individuals enjoy a host of
activities including reminiscence therapies where they look at
early photos and listen to records of decades past. One of our
residents here was once a champion horse breeder and fascinates
everyone by sharing stories of past winners, many of which have
pride of place in the photos on his wall.
Alawarra Lodge is certainly a
showpiece of Inala Village, itself an exciting integration of
communities, diverse cultures and people across almost 10 hectares
of greenery, great places to walk and relax.
We are pleased to be such an
integral part of the broader village community, which also includes
Inala Lodge and Milpara Lodge - residences which each provide
equally lovely homes and dedicated care.
Inala centres around a village hub,
a bustling place alive with the coffee shop conversations of
residents and their families, a small well-stocked supermarket and
even its own weekly banking service.
The list of what we offer
village-wide goes on. A dedicated day therapy unit with
physiotherapy and podiatry services, a spacious barbecue area,
outdoor swimming pool and spa. Inala Village also has its own
chapel, which conducts various denominational services. Then there
is the contemplative memorial garden and the lovely ambience
created by water features located around the village. The village
is so substantial we even have our own internal bus service.
Tailored to specific requirements
and abilities of residents, our lifestyle team's lively program of
regular activities is simply magic. Quite literally in some cases,
because we've recently been visited by a very clever magician who
amazed us all!
The well-being of our residents is
helped considerably by healthy cuisine. Our dietician-approved menu
provides a large range of alternative options according to diet
specifics, and residents always get to consult on inclusions.
The village offers our residents a
diversity of entertainment on a weekly basis, including wonderful
visits from school children, scouts and guides.
With local shops in front and
behind us, a bus route past the door, the nearby Laburnum train
station and regular excursions galore, Inala Village and Alawarra
Lodge is certainly in the heart of Melbourne. But step into our
spacious garden community and you'll appreciate why we're called
the country in the city.
Alawarra Lodge residents are also
able to take advantage of the following services on offer:
- on-site hairdressing and beauty therapy
- volunteer program
- experienced in-house chef and catering staff
- special dietary requirements met
Residents receive all the benefits
of the Regis Group's living care model of responsive support
