The atmosphere of the whole facility is always buoyant. Walk through the corridors, whether it's our relatively new low care area or the high care section, and you'll hear lots of conversation and laughter.

It's all due to the great dynamic between staff and residents. Visitors always comment on how friendly Boronia Heights' staff are to everyone, so expect plenty of smiles and offers of assistance.

Another big plus is that our staff and residents come from all corners of the world - Ireland, Scotland, China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Zimbabwe, Samoa, and that's just our nurses. The backgrounds of our residents are equally diverse. Such a cultural mix makes for fabulous activities and events, as well as the everyday atmosphere.

Our activities coordinators put on everything from cultural theme days and armchair travel presentations to regular bus excursions. Recent trips include visits to the beach at Red Cliff and picnics at the Peace Gardens near Ipswich.

We even have our own choir, made up of enthusiastic residents in resplendent cassocks. Their performances are always a highlight at our concerts and other special occasions, like Christmas.

Boronia Heights has two dementia-specific areas, one in our low care section and another in high care. Activities within these areas cater to people with cognitive impairment. Painting and craft are popular so lively artwork is often displayed on the walls.
