Regis Gannon Gardens - Hurstville
53-59 Gloucester Road
Hurstville New South Wales 2220
Invigorating activities make Regis
Gannon Gardens a lively place, whether residents are participating
or watching. Our programs cater to every ability and interest level
so everyone can be part of the fun.
Located in the quiet residential
suburb of Hurstville in south western Sydney, Gannon finds a gentle
balance between inclusiveness and a sense of individual freedom.
Because our low and high care areas are separate, most residents
have friends within their own areas, but we like to bring them all
together as often as possible.
While most of our pursuits are
tailored to suit low and high care requirements, like our Spark of
Life afternoon activities for our dementia residents, an annual
program of concerts and entertainment is designed to strengthen our
sense of community. Of course that includes the families of
residents, many of whom visit us so often they feel like part of
the Gannon family.
Other occasions which emphasise our community include morning teas,
sing-alongs and an array of organised parties like our recent
Mother's Day celebrations. Our two open courtyards are ideal for
barbecues and get togethers, as well as special events like the
petting zoo, which visits us with a menagerie of cuddly farm
animals.
Gannon's low care residents are out
and about on a regular basis, particularly when our own choir is
performing at a venue somewhere in the local area. This popular
choir is in high demand among other care facility residents who
love their diverse repertoire of unaccompanied songs.
The choir practises a lot and it's
always a pleasure to hear their voices resonating through the
building. Gannon's choir is quite literally part of the fabric of
the place.
One of our activity officers
arranges their songs and each member listens carefully to
recordings of songs they are learning. It's quite amazing what can
be accomplished with passion and practice!
Such vocal involvement works up
quite an appetite among our residents. All meals are cooked on site
and residents enjoying providing their own suggestions on menu
choices at our monthly meetings.
Other discussions during these
meetings include the destination for forthcoming excursions. Recent
bus trips have headed into the Blue Mountains and visited Bowral
during the Tulip Festival.
Bus isn't the only way our low care
residents get around. Because Gannon is only five minutes walk to
the railway station, it's an easy trip into town by train.
Gannon Gardens residents are also
able to take advantage of the following services on offer:
- regular church service
- massage therapy
- hairdressing and beauty therapy
- cable television
- experienced in-house chef and catering staff
- special dietary requirements met
Residents receive all the benefits
of the Regis Group's living care model of responsive support
provided by leading professionals and tailored to individual
medical, cultural and religious preferences.
