Regis Heathcliff Manor - Macleod
118 Somers Avenue
Macleod Victoria 3085
A profound strength of culture lies
at the heart of the recently extended Regis Heathcliff Manor in
Macleod. Walk through our welcoming doors on any given day you'll
experience something enriching and quite possibly, unexpected.
You might come across our regular
group of Italian-speaking residents on one of their morning get
togethers, chatting in Italian over delicious espresso and
freshly-baked cakes. This little group is part of the fabric of
Heathcliff Manor and adds a special touch to our evocative
atmosphere.
Heathcliff Manor is thoroughly
proud of our celebrations and sense of fun. Each event and outing
is intended to inject as much life into each day for all our high
care residents as possible.
Our themed commemorations of events
like Australia Day and St Patrick's Day are opportunities to
encourage positive reminiscences for our residents. Halloween days
are particularly boisterous, with much hilarity at good humoured
attempts at mock-horror.
One of the most satisfying
qualities of being part of Heathcliff Manor is seeing our residents
come alive with every new experience. So when you next visit, don't
be surprised if you catch us dressed in our pyjamas or gadding
about in beach gear. It all depends on where we are in our very
busy calendar.
We welcome plenty of visitors from
the wider community too. Entertainers of all kinds visit, from a
husband and wife singing team who've been coming to us for years,
to school groups and church choirs.
We have a close association with
the University of Melbourne's physiotherapy students who design
exercise programs for our residents, including a specialised
strengthening program, which continues successfully today.
Perhaps the loveliest way we bring
in the broader community is through a program we share with the
community service students of Greensborough Secondary College. For
the last two years each student has 'adopted' a grandparent, got to
know them one-on-one, then offered a presentation on what they
learnt about their adopted grandparent's life.
The results of these presentations
have been fantastic, from laptop presentations and CDs to carefully
created scrapbooks. One resident, who was once a railwayman,
received a delightful presentation of pictures of trains he
remembered from his career.
There's no doubt that Heathcliff
Manor residents and staff touch each other's lives deeply; hearing
stories, sharing photos and memories. Each connection is like a
genuine, gentle imprint that extends throughout our community.
Heathcliff Manor residents are also
able to take advantage of the following services on offer:
- on-site hairdressing and beauty therapy
- volunteer program
- experienced in-house chef and catering staff
- special dietary requirements met
Residents receive all the benefits
of the Regis Group's living care model of responsive support
provided by leading professionals and tailored to individual
medical, cultural and religious preferences.
