Regis Lakeside - Chancellor Park
94 University Way
Chancellor Park Queensland 4556
Most Australians dream of retiring
by the beach, so no wonder Regis Lakeside residents appreciate
their close connection with the beautiful beaches of the Sunshine
Coast.
Our residents love their seaside
picnics as much as they love the large lake and spacious parkland
right next door. It's a perfectly tranquil space for quiet strolls
and watching birds, many of which frequent the native gardens in
our central courtyard.
This courtyard is our social hub.
Ideal for community get togethers like barbecues with residents and
their families. Lakeside's exercise therapy programs also make use
of our pretty setting, incorporating the outdoors in activities as
much as possible.
In keeping with the outdoor
ambience, Lakeside's modern interiors are light-filled and all
bedrooms enjoy views onto garden courtyards. Local shops are within
walking distance and our larger shopping centre, Chancellor Park,
is only a 20 minute stroll away for low care residents. Public
transport couldn't be easier, with a bus stop right outside our
main entrance.
A special dimension to Lakeside is
our proud status an as educational centre of excellence, developed
through close ties with the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Nursing students from the university visit us on a regular basis as
part of an organised work experience program. It's an enriching
connection for everyone involved.
Lakeside conducts regular church
services for different denominations plus an array of concerts and
musical events. These include vaudeville-style entertainers, choral
performances by the Grace Church singers and twice-yearly visits
from the Queensland Police Pipe Band.
We welcome pets and have our own
cat, Purple, who purrs in and out of the rooms, to the delight of
cat lovers. Residents also look forward to visits from Sasha, the
gentle-natured canine companion of one of our staff. She is often
joined by other dogs who visit with their families.
A highlight of our physical
activities and games is our inter-facility challenge, held
regularly with residents from nearby Allora Lodge. This boisterous
event fosters real camaraderie and some healthy rivalry. Another
wonderful opportunity for bonding is our staff and resident
challenge. Laughter is guaranteed.
In 2008, we staged our own Olympic
Games. It proved so popular that residents requested we hold it
every year. Perennial 'sports' include dart challenges, ten pin
bowling and bean-bag tossing.
Theme days at Lakeside are a hoot
too. Our recent Letter 'P' Day theme saw staff, residents and their
families dressed from pirates to pizzas. The photos are hilarious.
Lakeside is pleased to have an active photographer among the staff
whose evocative shots grace our walls.
Lakeside residents are also able to
take advantage of the following services on offer:
- regular church service
- massage therapy
- occupational therapy
- music therapy
- pet therapy
- experienced in-house chef and catering staff
- special dietary requirements met
