Regis The Gardens - Corlette
40 Bagnall Beach Road
Corlette New South Wales 2315
Regis The Gardens is all about
lifestyle, and the myriad of exciting possibilities that this
involves. Like caring for our two resident goats, Kath and Kim, and
the quirky consequences of having their photos signed by Gina Riley
when a group of staff went to see her starring in the musical,
Chicago.
After the performance, an
enthusiastic group of our staff went backstage to meet Gina,
who signed their photos; "to all the spunks, hunks and foxy morons
at Regis The Gardens, love Kimmy".
The same photos are now displayed
proudly on our picture wall in the lift, along with fun photo
portraits of residents and wonderful artwork by our very own
artists.
The Gardens is that sort of place.
A place where people live life to the full, whether they're dealing
with dementia, are in high care, low care or are who we call our
'low low' care residents.
Having 'low low' care residents
works extremely well for everyone. These active and independent
people make The Gardens brighter and bubblier. A number even
volunteer to help our less able residents, including taking them
out on trips in their cars.
Located in Corlette, near Port
Stephens on Nelson Bay, The Gardens is our own slice of paradise.
We're only 15 minutes from the water and within easy walking
distance to Salamander shops. All the little essentials are right
nearby so our residents feel very connected to the wider
community.
There are plenty of organised
excursions, like bus trips to Newcastle only 40 minutes away, and
popular trips to the Tea Gardens, which we reach by taking the
ferry across the bay. We do lots locally too, like our Friday bus
ventures to the shops. One recent hit was attending a charity golf
day, with all residents turning out to enjoy morning tea and watch
the tournament unfold.
The community loves coming to us as
much as we love hosting them. Especially popular are the visits
from school groups performing concerts. Amusing ourselves in-house
is also easy, with all sorts of board games and for our dementia
residents; the aptly-named Sunshine Club.
Happy hour in the evenings is the
real deal because we like our residents to live their life as they
always have. So The Gardens has clubs and groups galore, from our
men's group to a prolific group of artists who draw and paint many
of the impressive works which grace our walls.
We're very grateful to the many
volunteers who help with craft activities like sewing, knitting,
making decorations and gift cards. Our residents' craft creations
add considerably to the character of The Gardens, as do the green
thumb efforts of our very fertile gardening club.
As well as beautiful flowers, which
embellish the home's spectacular gardens, our gardeners grow
luscious herbs and vegetables which we use in the kitchen. After
all, there's nothing quite like home grown!
The Gardens residents are also able
to take advantage of the following services on offer:
- regular church service
- massage therapy
- hairdressing and beauty therapy
- cable television
- internet access
- experienced in-house chef and catering staff
- special dietary requirements met
Residents receive all the benefits
of the Regis Group's living care model of responsive support
provided by leading professionals and tailored to individual
medical, cultural and religious preferences.
