Honorable John Wilson Attends 1st Birthday and Official Opening Celebration at Regis North Fremantle Aged Care Facility
Federal Member for Fremantle, MP Josh Wilson, attended the 1st Birthday and Official Opening celebration of the 109-bed state of the art aged care facility Regis North Fremantle (formerly Regis Hillcrest) on Tuesday 16 May 2017.
Mr Wilson was joined by Regis Healthcare CEO Ross Johnston, invited clients, industry providers, bed fillers, local dignitaries, and Regis Staff.
“Regis have done a wonderful job at redeveloping this heritage building, formerly known as ‘Hillcrest’, which has been an important part of North Fremantle’s landscape and history since the 1920s. We need a diversity of living and care options for older Australians, and the new Regis Hillcrest combines great character with state-of-the-art facilities.” said Mr Wilson.
Regis North Fremantle opened in May 2016 and features a café, kitchen, laundry, reception, hair salon, cinema and library. The state-of-the-art Harvest Road facility features a restored heritage listed building and extension catering for 109 residents. Regis North Fremantle was recently announced as a finalist in the Western Australian Heritage Award 2017 in the category of “Conservation or Adaptive Reuse of a State Registered Place”.
Regis has been a part of the North Fremantle community for 8 years having acquired the facility from the Salvation Army in 2009. The original building was built in 1901 in the Victorian Italianate Style of the Federation period and has a rich and colorful history, which Regis has preserved.
Regis recognised the growing need for residential aged care services in the local area and made the decision redevelop the site with building beginning in September 2014.
Regis North Fremantle offers aged care services including ageing-in-place, respite, and dementia care.
