Regis Whitfield aged care facility in Cairns recently arranged a lifestyle outing at the infamous Hartley Creek Crocodile Farm.
Hartley Farm is an eco-adventure attraction with teeth, located between sunny Cairns and Port Douglas. The farm houses some of Australia’s most lovable and most deadly creatures with native wildlife including snakes, cassowaries, koalas, crocodiles, quolls and more.
Twelve brave Regis’ residents visited the farm for a day with the highlight being the crocodile feeding with, we should note, only a fence between passengers and the scaly green reptiles. These eco-adventurers safely viewed several crocs being fed from the Hartley Farm’s sufficiently strong and fast boat.
Regis’ Lifestyle Coordinator Wendy commented that residents were amazed at the size and strength of the crocodiles. Moreover, they were thrilled to see them in such close proximity and in their natural habitat.
One of our residents also celebrated her birthday on the trip and much to Gloria’s delight she got a rendition of Happy Birthday near the crocodile infested waters.
At the end of the day souvenirs were purchased and residents were served a complimentary platter of marinated crocodile which apparently was very tasty. In all, a very eventful day for our aged care residents at Regis Whitfield.
