Each year Regis recognises and celebrates the outstanding contribution our employees make every day with the Regis National Staff Awards. This year there was an outstanding response with a record of over 1200 nominations submitted from staff, residents and families. The awards celebrate the skill, compassion and vitality of Regis staff in multiple clinical categories as well as recognise the innovations, outstanding leadership and generous contributions from volunteers. Here are this year’s phenomenal winners.
Winner – Faye, Payroll Systems Specialist
Faye quietly assists or manages projects that provide benefit to Regis. This included the smooth integration of the 900 Masonic employees into Regis’ payroll system which involved many long hours of triple checking hard and soft data, testing and working with other business units.
Merit – Helen, Facility Manager
Described as supportive, caring and committed, Helen has a demonstrated passion for her team.
Having an extraordinary empathetic nature, Helen is a team player who leads by example. The improvements she has implemented show increases in resident satisfaction, morale and staff retention.
Winner- Bradley, Maintenance Officer
Brad received nominations cited examples of his amazing customer service ethos, friendly disposition and initiatives to ensure the facility runs smoothly.
Merit – Jonifer, Chef
Every year Jonifer is nominated for his sincerity and pride in all he does. On top of his ‘day job’, Jonifer helps the National Catering team develop and test new recipes.
Winner – David, Personal Care Attendant
David is known for his ‘thinking outside the box’ initiatives and unassuming presence. David finds the “true” person often hidden under the symptoms of dementia and always treats them as willing and able participants – whether it’s building a garden box or collecting eggs from the pretend chicken coup! He enlists all residents to assist in programs and initiatives to bring the residents daily joy and comfort.
Merit – Christine, Personal Care Attendant
In her 10 years at Regis, the dementia wing has never received a formal complaint. The Facility Manager attributes this milestone to Christine! Christine’s mantra of knowing your resident and their family history makes her residents feel like she has known them a lifetime. Christine researches and works exceptionally hard to build and develop therapeutic relationships with the residents, families and friends.
Winner – Lyn, Facility Manager
Since beginning as FM at the site, Lyn has given a fine example of what a leader is- she has turned a facility in crisis around. Staff say they are supported by Lyn and they feel they are consulted and included decisions across all areas. Lyn’s warm, cheerful mantra of “you are either on the bus or off the bus” has lifted the spirits of all.
Merit – Lisa, Facility Manager
Described as capable, committed and supportive, as a former AIN, Lisa has an incredible ability to understand the needs of all her staff. Lisa has exceptional communication skills (‘no job is too big or small’) which helps her inspire and motivate her staff to achieve goals together.
Winner – Bradley, Maintenance Officer
Bradley’s nomination cited strong examples of his initiatives in getting a better and safer working environment for all. Brad is a strong supportive team member who is committed to safety/injury prevention and is always aware of the possibility to injury to staff and residents.
Merit – Michelle, General Manager Operations
Michelle’s leadership and focus on WHS has had a marked effect on incident numbers and severity. The significant injury rates in her region has dropped by 70% due to Michelle making her leadership team directly responsible for the reduction of serious incidents and the return of injured workers back to full duties.
Winner – Aishwarya, Clinical Manager
Aishwarya is described as a positive leader with a strong commitment to her staff as well as innovations and methods to motivate and educate. Aish’s colleagues and management have described her as passionate, loyal and trustworthy with a gentle disposition who is totally dedicated to her residents.
Merit – Nicola and Mariamma, Clinical Managers
Nominations for Nicola and Mariamma noted their sound clinical oversight, their innovative ways to engage staff in relation to resident outcomes, their leadership, passion and commitment to education. Under their consistent and thorough oversight, there’s been a significant reduction in falls and weight loss with external agencies noting that the standard of care is going from strength to strength.
