Residents at Regis aged care facility in Gatton connect with ‘Beamz’ music therapy program twice week and are excited to make music with this new technology.
The new aged care lifestyle initiative at Gatton is a program designed to accelerate therapeutic outcomes. Some of the many benefits include increased social interaction, concentration, memory and decision making.
Lifestyle Coordinator Deb says, “They’ve really embraced the Beamz and are enthralled with it. We use it twice a week at the moment and will increase usage along the way.”
The focus for lifestyle staff at Gatton is on ‘exploration’ with residents embracing the chance to play around with a variety of melodious sounds, genres of music and instruments.
Deb says, “Residents are engaged and even if initially appear not interested, the moment they put their hands through the infrared beams they are hooked.”
