COVID-19 Update Regis Blackburn – no cases


Dear Families,

I am writing to share the positive news that we have received all negative test results for all staff and residents at Regis Blackburn. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) advised us today that Regis Blackburn can return to our earlier Access Controls.

This is great news. We are thrilled that our residents are able to leave their rooms and socialise, and our staff are not using full Personal Protective Equipment, only face masks and shields.

The safety and wellbeing of our residents and our staff are our highest priorities. Therefore, our Access Controls remain in place. Unfortunately this means that visitation will continue to be permitted on compassionate grounds only. However, I want to reassure you that our Lifestyle team will continue to support your loved ones and our alternative communication of FaceTime and phone calls remain in place. Our team is available to coordinate this for you.

Social distancing remains in place to ensure our residents are safe while socialising in common areas. We are pleased that today we served lunch in our dining room. Residents enjoyed either moroccan beef or braised pork, followed by butterscotch pudding with ice cream for lunch. Ham and pea soup, and chicken risotto are being prepared for dinner. It was so lovely to see everyone enjoying a communal meal.

I would like to thank the team at Blackburn for their hard work and diligence in keeping our residents and our Home safe. We know the past week has been challenging and I am grateful for their efforts to follow the Regis Outbreak Management Plan at all times.

I would like to extend this appreciation, to you, our families and your loved ones, for your ongoing support and understanding during this unprecedented time.

I hope you share our delight on reaching this positive milestone. We will no longer provide daily updates, but as always, if there are any clinical changes to your loved one, our team will be in touch.
