Regis Bulimba update to families – Return to Stringent Access Controls

Dear Families,

I am writing to advise you that we will be reintroducing Stringent Access Controls immediately, from today, Friday 21 August. This is due to a positive COVID-19 case in the community spending two weeks in the local area of Bulimba.

The safety and wellbeing of our residents and staff is our highest priority and this measure will remain in place while we monitor the community transmission in the area and ensure it is at a safe level.

Our reinstated Stringent Access Controls unfortunately mean that no visitation to our Homes other than for compassionate reasons is permitted. If you wish to make a visit for compassionate reasons, please contact your Home’s Manager who will work with you to accommodate visitation.

We will continue to ensure that you can stay in touch with your loved ones with alternative forms of communication, such as phone calls or windows of connection. Our staff will be happy to coordinate this for you. Please call the Home or Regis Advice on 1300 998 100 who are available to support you.

To help protect our residents and staff, we have mandated the use of face masks for all staff and compassionate visitors in our Bulimba Home. Our staff are required to wear a mask at all times while they are interacting with other people in the Home, including when providing care and support to residents and when they are with their colleagues.

There will be no obligation for our residents to wear a mask but if they do wish to wear one, we will of course provide them.

Bulimba will continue with modified programs and dining arrangements to adhere to physical distancing where possible. Our team is continuing with enhanced infection control practices including hand hygiene, increased touch point cleaning and health screening of every staff member before their shift.

I am confident that you will agree that increasing precautions is important at this time. We strongly believe that this is the best way to keep those in our care safe. We will of course be reviewing the advice from the Queensland Government and Federal Government daily and will let you know if any changes are required.

I know that this is a difficult time for all of you and I thank you for your continued support.

As always, please talk to your Facility Manager if you have any concerns or needs. Please, stay safe.

Best wishes,

Linda Mellors
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer
