Regis Fawkner – COVID-19 update

Families,

It has been a busy day today at Regis Fawkner. All residents and staff had their COVID-19 test in line with the advice from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). A large team from Sonic Healthcare was on site this morning to complete the testing process. We expect the results to be returned in a day or so and will advise you once we have them.

These results are critical for us as they will determine what the DHHS advises us to do next. We look forward to sharing the next steps once we are advised.

In addition to the COVID-19 testing, our clinical team has completed their daily assessment of all residents to check their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing using the DHHS screening tool. We will continue to do this every day and as always, will update you if the clinical status of your loved one changes.

Our clinical team are closely monitoring our residents in the Home who contracted COVID-19 to ensure they are comfortable and well supported. Our residents in hospital remain in relatively stable conditions at present. Our thoughts are with our residents and their families during this time.

Our dedicated Lifestyle team has been spending one on one time with each of our residents to support them while they remain in their rooms. It’s been a joyful day filled with music and dancing, hallway bingo, and reading of news and pen pal letters. Some of our residents have received photos of their grandchildren which we are displaying in their rooms. This brings comfort and a smile to their faces.

While everything is progressing well at the Home, we continue to encourage our team to follow strict infection control measures. This includes wearing full Personal Protective Equipment at all times, conducting regular and thorough touchpoint cleaning throughout the day, and remaining vigilant. We are also in touch with our staff members who contracted COVID-19 to assist them in any way we can.

We will continue to update you daily as the results return. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our dedicated team on 1300 998 100 who can transfer you to a senior staff member who are on hand to support you.

Our focus remains on your loved one and ensuring they are supported during this time.

Best wishes,

Linda Mellors
