I am writing to share the positive news that the Department of Health and Human Services has officially moved the status of the Home into Enhanced Surveillance.
This is great news and we are thrilled that our residents are now able to leave their rooms and staff no longer need to use full Personal Protective Equipment, only face masks and shields.
We will be in Enhanced Surveillance for the next two weeks. During this time, our clinical team will continue to assess residents using the DHHS screening tool. If they display any symptoms, they will receive COVID-19 testing immediately. As always, we will make contact if there are any clinical changes to your loved one.
Social distancing remains in place to ensure our residents are safe while socialising in common areas. We are pleased that from tomorrow meals will be served in our dining room. Together, our residents and staff are celebrating this milestone.
Unfortunately, visitation is only permitted on compassionate grounds. However, I want to reassure you that our Lifestyle team will continue to support your loved ones and our alternative communication of FaceTime and phone calls remain in place. Our team is available to coordinate this for you.
We continue to require our staff to follow infection control procedures. This includes regular touchpoint cleaning throughout the day, cough and sneeze etiquette, physical distancing and, if unwell, they must stay home and get tested immediately.
Our staff member who tested positive for COVID-19 continues to recover at home. We are in regular contact with them and will advise you when they receive clearance from DHHS to return to the Home.
I would like to thank Sam and the team at Macleod for their hard work and diligence in keeping our residents and our Home safe. We know the past two weeks have been challenging and I am grateful for their efforts to follow the Regis Outbreak Management Plan at all times.
I would like to extend this appreciation to you, our families and your loved ones for your ongoing support and understanding during this unprecedented time.
As we have entered this stage of Enhanced Surveillance, we will no longer send daily updates. Sam will provide you with an update by email each week. Rest assured, if there are any clinical changes to your loved one, our clinical team will be in touch.
I hope you share our delight on reaching this positive milestone. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Regis Advice on 1300 998 100 to be transferred through to a senior member of our team who are on standby to support you.
