Corinthian Court Retirement Village in Townsville recently opened its community garden at the Home. The community garden was a joined collaboration between both residents and Regis Corinthian Court.

During the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Village Concierge Cathy Noel put forth the idea to encourage the residents to go outside and get some fresh air.

The opening of the community garden was celebrated with a scrumptious sausage sizzle and the cutting of cake which the community thoroughly enjoyed.

At the breaking of the ground, the first plantings were done by Cathy and resident Evan Evans, who heads the Community Garden group. They were joined by the residents, Village Manager Nadine Lister and Maintenance Officer Chad Holmes.

Tomatoes, capsicum, sweet peas, sunflowers, chives, and insect-attracting flowers have been planted.

“We look forward to reaping the benefits from the garden in the coming months,“ said Cathy.
