The music of the ice cream van during the long hot summers of youth is a sound that is familiar to many.

The residents of aged care facility Regis Port Macquarie, on the NSW Central Coast, have been transported back to these times with the introduction of an ice cream trolley complete with an insulated holder to keep the ice cream cold and a recess for the cones.

The trolley even plays “Greensleeves” just like a ‘Mr Whippy’ van.

The ‘van’ moves through the facility on a weekly basis and has become a popular and fun social activity that engages residents, especially people who may otherwise prefer to enjoy the privacy of their rooms.

Staff at all Regis Aged Care facilities are constantly searching for new ways to keep residents engaged through our active Lifestyle programs and Care Services.
