Our focus today, and always is the health and wellbeing of our residents and staff. Therefore it’s critical we act to continue to protect the Homes and your loved ones. As a precautionary measure, we will keep the current Stringent Access Controls in place.
Visitation will remain limited to two visitors at a time, for two hours, within set visiting hours, and will take place in resident rooms or outdoor areas. Visiting hours are:
Visits to your loved ones must be booked in with your Home prior to arrival so that appropriate screening can take place. While these controls are in place, we will ensure that you can stay in touch with your loved one with alternative forms of communication, including FaceTime and phone calls. Our staff can coordinate this for you.
If you wish to visit for compassionate reasons, please contact your Home’s Facility Manager who will work with you to accommodate this.
Residents are able to leave the Home for community visits. However, when doing so they must follow all government advice around social distancing and avoiding large crowds.
Our Homes will continue with a modified Lifestyle program to support the health and wellbeing of our residents and ensure they are engaged. Both the Lifestyle program and dining will adhere to social distancing.
Our teams are maintaining enhanced infection control practices including hand hygiene, increased touch point cleaning and health screening of every staff member before every shift. If any employee, contractor or volunteer works or visits across multiple care facilities, they must wear a single-use surgical face mask at all times in our Homes. If they are exempt from wearing a mask due to health or personal reasons, they will not be permitted to enter. This is in line with the revised directions of the Queensland Government.
I am confident that you will agree that precautions remain important at this time. We have reminded all staff of their responsibilities and will again advise our external service providers of their responsibilities as well.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide advice. As part of living with COVID-19, we anticipate making changes including moving back to more access as soon as it is considered safe to do. We will provide another update via email next Wednesday. Please reach out to your Facility Manager, if you have any questions or concerns.
I would like to thank you for your continued support and understanding. Together we can continue to keep those in our care safe, supported and well.
