Regis Family Update – Regis Brisbane Metro, Regis Gatton and Regis Caboolture return to Stringent Access Controls

Dear Families,

I am writing to advise that the Queensland Government has instructed us to introduce Stringent Access Controls across all Regis Brisbane Homes, Regis Gatton and Regis Caboolture. This is effective immediately, from today, Saturday 22 August, due to community transmission of the virus.

You can read the government directive here

The safety and wellbeing of our residents and staff is our highest priority and this measure will remain in place while we monitor Queensland Government advice and any community transmission in the area.

Our reinstated Stringent Access Controls unfortunately mean that you cannot visit Homes other than for very limited compassionate reasons. If you wish to make a visit for compassionate reasons, please contact your Home’s Manager. Residents cannot leave the Home unless they are receiving health care, attending a funeral or for an emergency or for compassionate reasons

We will continue to ensure that you can stay in touch with your loved ones with alternative forms of communication, such as phone calls or windows of connection.

To help protect our residents and staff, our staff are required to wear a face mask at all times while they are interacting with other people in the Home, including when providing care and support to residents and when they are with their colleagues. Any visitors to any Home must also wear a mask.

There will be no obligation for our residents to wear a mask but if they do wish to wear one, we will of course provide them.

All Homes will continue with modified Lifestyle programs and dining arrangements to adhere to physical distancing where possible. Our team is continuing with enhanced infection control practices including hand hygiene, increased touch point cleaning and health screening of every staff member before their shift.

This news is, of course, not the news we wanted to hear during this challenging time. The Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) has a range of resources available to support you and your loved ones. I encourage you to visit the OPAN website and read the OPAN Flyer (PDF). We have also included a COVID-19 Fact Sheet (PDF) and COVID-19 Useful Resources Sheet (PDF) for your reference that will also be provided to your loved ones. I hope you find them useful.

I am confident that you will agree that increasing precautions is important at this time. We strongly believe that this is the best way to keep those in our care safe. We will of course be reviewing the advice from the Queensland Government and Federal Government daily and will let you know if any changes are required.

As always, please talk to your Facility Manager or call Regis Advice on 1300 998 100 if you have any concerns or needs.

I would like to thank you for your continued support and understanding. Together we can continue to keep those in our care safe, supported and well.

We will be in contact with you again late next week. In the meantime, please, stay safe.

Best wishes,

Linda Mellors
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer
