Joyce and Brian Driscoll celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss recently with an anniversary party at Regis Gatton.
Brian was in Queensland completing his National Service Training, Civilian Military Force and Jungle Warfare Training when he met Joyce in 1957 at the local Horticultural Hall dance in Charter Towers.
After that chance meeting the couple began a steady courtship and were great friends before they became engaged in 1967. Once married they moved to Bondi Junction in Sydney where Joyce pursued a career as a Primary School Teacher and Brian as an Aircraft Electrical Maintenance Officer.
Joyce says that they loved the Sydney city lifestyle enjoying the vibrant theatre culture and fine restaurants.
In 2015 Joyce moved into care at Regis Gatton aged care facility in Queensland where Brian is a regular visitor.
The inseparable couple were delighted to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends and received congratulatory letters from local, State and Federal MP’s as well as the Premier of Queensland and the Governor General.
Congratulations to Joyce and Brian on their Golden anniversary!
