I would like to once again thank you for your ongoing support and feedback throughout this time. Our teams work hard every day to care for and support our residents and clients. Your appreciation and patience means a lot to all of us.
As always, Regis’ highest priority is the safety and wellbeing of our residents, clients and employees.
I welcome the release of the ‘Industry Code for Visiting Residential Aged Care Homes during COVID-19’ (the Code). The Code has been developed in consultation with residents, families, carers, aged care providers and peak aged care bodies to support safe visitation in aged care homes throughout the pandemic period. We have reviewed our current stringent access controls to ensure we meet both the spirit and recommendations of the Code. I encourage you to read the Code.
Our Day Therapy Centres and Day Respite Centres remain closed despite easing restrictions. We will reopen once we have been advised that it is safe to do so by the Department of Health (who issued the original closure notice).
You may request an ad hoc review of your aged care fees if you have experienced a reduction in income and/or assets. Please contact Services Australia on 1800 227 475 to do so.
While I encourage all of you to receive a vaccination if you can, you do not need to receive one unless you are accessing services that share a site with an Aged Care Facility. CHSP Clients will need to be vaccinated unless you meet the relevant exemptions. Please speak with you CHSP Manager to find out what the exemptions are.
We recognised International Nurses Day this week. Established in 1965, International Nurses Day recognises the hard work of the unsung superheroes in healthcare – our nurses. Our nurses and clinical teams at Regis are leaders within our homes and support offices who provide critical care and daily clinical guidance. Executive General Manager Clinical and Care Practice Melissa McDonald prepared a special message to our nursing teams that you can view on our website at www.regis.com.au/ind2020
Please take a moment to thank one of our nurses next time you are in our homes.
Please consider downloading the app as it will assist our public health authorities with the quick tracing and detection of COVID-19 in our community. This will protect us, our families and our residents.
As always, please talk to your Facility Manager if you have any concerns or needs. Please, stay safe.
