Regis Port Stephen recently sponsored their 9th Ladies Gala Day at Horizon’s Golf Resort in support of community palliative care services. The Horizon’s Golf Resort hosted 140 players from the local district as well as some keen golfers from Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane.
The attendees enjoyed a morning of golf and welcomed residents from Regis’ aged care home for morning tea on the course, finishing with a luncheon complete with the prized Julie Morgan Trophy and a raffle to help a meaningful cause. Residents get involved by wrapping gifts, showing up on the day and Regis staff help organise the logistic of the day.
Port Stephens aged care home has been a supporter of the community event for some years now with all proceeds going to purchase specialised equipment for the Hunter Regional Palliative Care Service.
The highlight of the Ladies Golf Day came when the Julie Morgan Trophy was presented. This award holds special significants to the club as Julie, who was the original organiser of the Ladies Gala Day, passed away at 52 year of age and the Horizon Golf Resort has since created the trophy to honour her memory and advocacy for palliative care services.
