COVID-19 Confirmed Case – Regis Ringwood

Families,

As you are aware, residents and staff were tested onsite yesterday for COVID-19. We have received all our resident results back and I am pleased to share that they are all negative for COVID-19. Some staff results have also been returned as negative, although a number of these are still pending. We expect to receive the remaining results by tomorrow and will notify you once they are available.

We met with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) today and continue to follow their advice and recommendations closely.

Our priority continues to be the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of your loved one. The team has had a busy morning and has completed their full round of clinical assessments using the screening tool from the DHHS. Where any issue has arisen, a member of our clinical team has made contact to discuss this with you. A member of our support team has also rung each resident’s nominated primary contact to let them know about your loved one’s negative test result.

In addition, our Lifestyle team has visited each resident to support them and ensure they are engaged. We are pleased to see so many Facetime calls organised between families and residents. We encourage you to continue this as this is often the highlight of our resident’s day.

A senior member of our clinical support team Tanya is working in the Home today. We have also transferred one of our Registered Nurses, Colleen, who normally works in the Regis training team, into the Home. Together, they will support the team on the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other infection control measures. This includes putting on and taking off PPE, which is an important aspect of using PPE safely.

We are in regular contact with our staff member who contracted COVID-19 to support them. They are in isolation recovering.

We understand this is a challenging time, particularly as we wait for results to return. I encourage you to visit the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) website and read the OPAN Flyer (PDF). OPAN has a range of resources available to support you and your loved ones. They are available via phone on 1800 237 981 to discuss concerns, queries or to support you and your loved ones.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Our dedicated team are available on 1300 998 100 and will put you through to our senior team who are on standby to take your calls.

Rest assured our priority is the health and wellbeing of your loved one.

Best wishes,

Linda Mellors
