Thank for your encouraging responses to my last email. We are thrilled that our residents have more opportunities to connect with their loved ones face to face and to leave our Homes.
Many of you are aware that the SA State Government has updated its SA Public Health Orders. I have provided a brief summary below however I encourage you to read the full orders here as some screening and eligibility criteria still apply. Below is a helpful graphic to explain the impact on aged care homes.
The risk within the community remains and there is an ongoing need to balance government advice, physical safety and emotional wellbeing in our decisions.
I am delighted to advise that restrictions on visitation hours have been lifted. Children under the age of 16 are now able to visit our Homes which I am sure is a welcome change for many of you. As with all visitors, children must provide evidence of having had an up to date influenza vaccination before entry. Visitors are still limited to 2 people per resident at any one time.
We will continue with our current system of booking visits with Reception so we can continue to screen everyone upon entry as per the Public Health Order and ensure the safety of our residents is supported at all times.
We are mindful that residents may refuse visits and we respect that. Movement around the Home will continue to be limited to ensure those residents who do not wish to receive visitors are accommodated and social distancing can be maintained.
I am also pleased that residents may now leave the Home and enter the community for a range of reasons provided appropriate social distancing and COVID safe practices are in place. At this stage the orders do not allow residents to leave the Home on group excursions with other residents (unless they are part of the same family group, e.g. couples or siblings).
I ask that you remain patient as our Homes transition to these new procedures. We are working quickly to put processes in place to ensure smooth operations continue while protecting those in our care. Please don’t hesitate to speak to your Facility Manager for further assistance.
We have implemented a number of measures over the course of the last three (3) months to keep your loved ones safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We continue to closely monitor our Homes and services to ensure we maintain robust infection control practices, and meet regularly to ensure we continue to comply with all medical and Government advice (both State and Federal).
Transparent and open communication is incredibly important to us at all times and now more than ever. We have set up strong communication channels including our regular emails, all of which are available on our website at www.regis.com.au/covid-19
As always, please stay safe and take care.
