Last month, residents from Regis Sandgate Lucinda and Regis Sandgate Musgrave came together for their first shared picnic in the park. It was a relaxed afternoon filled with conversation, fresh air and shared stories. Before the day ended, they had one request for the next outing: they wanted a BBQ.

The Lifestyle team took that idea and made it happen. This month, residents from both Homes returned to the park with BBQ tools, fresh ingredients and a sense of anticipation. A few residents helped with the cooking while resident Bev prepared her fruit and vegetable salad to share. Her thoughtful contribution brought everyone together around the table.

As lunch came together, conversations picked up. Some residents caught up on what they missed at the last meeting. Others shared memories of how the Sandgate area has changed over the years.

New friendships were formed, and existing ones grew stronger. Regis Sandgate Musgrave resident Rodney shared, “It is always nice to keep in touch with our fellow residents in Sandgate Lucinda. It helps us create new friendships during picnics. We should do this often.”

These moments help build a rhythm of community life that residents can look forward to. The team at Regis Sandgate Lucinda is already planning more shared events, including opportunities to connect with residents from other Homes.

The focus remains on listening to residents, supporting their choices and creating spaces where relationships can grow.
