Today we celebrate an incredible 35 years of service from Rosie Ruggero, chef at Regis Hornsby

Rosie’s journey began at the Home outside of Sydney back in 1991. It was a much smaller place, with just 30 rooms at the time, compared to 70 today. Rosie has seen many changes. She’s worked through big shifts like new management, to small changes to her everyday environment. 36 years ago, the kitchen looked very different, with no freezer or cool room, only a single commercial fridge.

However, Rosie’s career at Regis didn’t start in the kitchen. She first joined as a cleaner, later stepping into cooking when the team needed additional support, and Rosie embraced the opportunity to expand her role. What first began as lending a hand evolved into a lifelong passion and full-time work.

Through more than three decades of service, Rosie has remained committed to residents and her fellow team members. She says even after so long, the shine of working at Regis Hornsby still hasn’t worn off.

“I have met so many people over the last 35 years and always enjoy coming to work. I love working here, we have a lot of fun!” Rosie said.

She still finds joy in everyday moments that make her work meaningful. As she puts it, “The best part about my job is the laughter in the Home and the fun we have. I love it when I can help a resident and that makes them smile.”

The simple philosophy reflects the essence of Rosie’s service. She has dedicated herself to others and making their days brighter.

Today we thank Rosie for 35 years of commitment and care. Her contributions have shaped the team at Regis Hornsby and resident experiences. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with her.
