We’re baking much more than cakes. We’re creating connection, laughs and memories. Our National Bake Off is a dynamic celebration where residents, employees and families unite to showcase their baking talents, creativity and friendly spirit. With something sweet for everyone, it’s a joyful way to strengthen community ties.
What began in Western Australia during a Resident Engagement Forum has risen into a national phenomenon. Residents there sparked an idea for an inter‑Home baking competition. That spark ignited excitement and soon every Regis Home was invited to join.
Planning began in March and residents picked their recipes, chose baking teams and organised their Home’s contribution. There was a real buzz as cakes were prepared for the main event that was held on Wednesday 25 June.
“I haven’t baked in 20 years, and after a long time I got to bake a cake for a competition – it feels great,” shared Regis Woodlands resident, Shirley.
Resident Rita said “I got to bake my favourite recipe for all to try and enjoy. What a great idea to hold a bake off. I’ve never had imagined I would be able to participate in such an event. It was so much fun.”
Residents were centre stage in this event, supported every step of the way by our lifestyle and catering teams, managers and family members. From whisking and decorating to storytelling, judging and sharing the finished bakes, there was a recipe for togetherness in every step. Highlights from the day included some resident favourites – Date Slice, Fruit cake and a Chocolate Ripple Slice.
Our judging panel spanned a wide group—Executive and Regional General Managers, Relationship Specialists, Workplace Health and Safety and P&C Business Partners plus catering managers. Each judge brought their own perspective to the friendly competition.
“The National Bake Off is a heartfelt celebration of what makes our community so special,” says Sally Smith, National Lifestyle and Engagement Manager.
“It’s wonderful to see residents sharing their favourite family recipes and creating moments that unite generations and Homes across the country.”
State winners will work with their Lifestyle Coordinators to bring their recipe to life on a beautifully designed card. These creations will be showcased online in July. A panel will review each recipe and collectively choose the overall winner.
