As part of the monthly Ladies Club gathering, Regis Fawkner hosted a special almond biscuit-making session led by Nancy, a long-time resident and her daughter. The event brought warmth and joy to the Home, celebrating cultural heritage and encouraging intergenerational connection.
Nancy shared her family’s treasured almond biscuit recipe and, together with her daughter, guided the group through each step, from mixing the dough to shaping and baking. “It reminded me of baking with my own mother back in Italy,” Nancy said, reflecting on the memories the experience stirred.
Residents joined in with enthusiasm, asking questions and sharing stories of their own baking traditions. “It was lovely to see everyone so engaged and chatting away. There was such a happy buzz in the room,” said Manu from the Lifestyle Team.
The freshly baked biscuits were enjoyed with afternoon tea. Events like this create opportunities for connection and spark moments that stay with the community.
