Residents from Regis Sandgate Lucinda recently participated in an annual art show hosted by the Redcliffe A H & I Society Inc, entering their artworks in a new category for people living in aged care. It was the first time this category had been included in the event, and the Sandgate Lucinda residents walked away with multiple prizes.

Residents Noeline and Victor both entered one of their water paintings, while Sue and Pamela entered Diamond Dot Painting. Sue and Victor each received a second-place ribbon in their respective categories. Pam, who has only recently started doing Diamond Dot Art after visiting Sue and admiring her work, completed and submitted her “Baby Kittens” artwork with Sue’s help and guidance. She was delighted to receive a Highly Commended award.

When Kathleen, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Regis Sandgate Lucinda, gave Sue her artwork back along with a ribbon for 2nd place, Sue could not believe it, stating, “I’ve never won anything in my life. I do this because I love it. I love watching the Dot Art come to life. It makes me happy.”

At Regis Sandgate Lucinda, creative expression is a valued part of daily life. Team members understand how important it is to have a creative outlet. It’s something that lifts mood, builds connections and brings people together.

The team supports residents to engage in creative activities every week. This includes regular art sessions and the chance to display their work in the Home’s dedicated Resident Art Gallery. The gallery is updated every few months and gives residents an opportunity to share their creativity with family, visitors and one another.

This approach reflects how Regis homes support meaningful experiences and celebrate the talents of the people who live there.
