Heather Taylor works as an AIN and is a Resident Companion at Regis Mornington, where she’s making a meaningful difference in aged care. Her strength lies in being present, really listening and supporting residents in the everyday moments that matter.
“I love being able to make a difference in residents’ everyday life,” Heather shares. “Whether it’s a friendly conversation or helping with day to day tasks, it’s the connection and care that fulfills me”
Heather’s humility is clear when asked about a moment she felt she made a difference. “I’m not sure I do anything special,” she says. “But I always listen to what a resident is saying and try to put myself in their place.”
Heather credits much of her growth to the support she’s received at Regis, especially from her General Manager, Lisa. With ongoing training and encouragement, she says she’s gained confidence and feels more capable in her role.
“Regis has provided ongoing training, which has been valuable. I’ve had great support from Lisa which has been encouraging and helped build my confidence,” Heather says.
To Heather, feeling valued means being listened to, supported and recognised. “At Regis, that happens through positive feedback and opportunities for growth,” she says.
For new team members, Heather offers this advice: “Take your time to learn and don’t be hard on yourself if you’re unsure. Always ask questions. The smallest actions can make a huge difference to somebody’s day.”
Heather continues to grow and find new ways to make a difference. Her story is a reminder that real impact often comes from consistent care offered every day.
