Today, more than 150 of our Victorian residents gathered at the historic Windsor Hotel to celebrate Mother’s Day over high tea.
The event featured an array of activities designed to make Mother’s Day memorable, including live music, a selection of fine teas and an assortment of pastries and sandwiches, all set within the luxurious backdrop of the Windsor Hotel.
With the success of previous Regis excursions, which included an outing on a Yarra River Cruise and Puffing Billy, 168 residents from 15 different Regis Homes across metropolitan Melbourne were excited to recognise and celebrate the irreplaceable role all mothers play in our lives, while also forging new and meaningful connections with other residents.
The Regis Inter-Home Community Event initiative has been running since mid-2023 and was designed to support residents and clients to continue to live interesting, connected and fulfilled lives where they can continue to gain new experiences and engage with each other.
Current Regis Sandringham resident, Lorna, said “Everything was absolutely beautiful. The building, the food, the crocheted flower, the menu, but most of all the wonderful company. It was so lovely meeting some new faces.”
Michelle Martella, Executive General Manager Support Services said the Inter-Home Community Events have been well received by Regis residents and believes by engaging and empowering them to be actively involved in choosing the activities, Regis is fostering a sense of community and personalised care.
“We value input from our community and through drawing on their diverse backgrounds, ages and personalities residents can suggest trips and activities, ensuring their preferences are heard and transformed into unforgettable experiences,” Mrs Martella said.
“Our Mother’s Day high tea is a prime example of how we honour our residents’ choices and enhance their social interactions. It is beautiful to see the joy and excitement these gatherings bring to our community.”
The Mother’s Day event is one of many Inter-Home Community Events held nationally this year, further enriching residents’ lives and creating lifelong memories.
