Prem Chand is an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) at Regis Belmore NSW and has been with Regis Aged Care for twenty-six years. Throughout the years Prem has taken on multiple roles in different departments, from Lifestyle to Catering and finally in her present role, as an AIN.

When asked what was it that attracted her to work in the aged care sector, she replied, “When I was in Fiji I used to go to the Home of Compassion to donate food on Sunday and visiting the elderly residents. This has inspired me to help them and give something back to the community.”

Prem told us that she enjoys working at Regis as it is a happy working environment. She is proud to work in aged care and values the teamwork shown at Regis. When asked what she likes best working with the elderly, she explained that one needs to provide residents with the best care.

“It is hard work in aged care,” explained Prem. “You have to have a good heart to work in in the sector,” advised Prem for those who want to start a career in aged care.

She emphasised the greatest motivation for her working at Regis is trying to understand our residents’ needs and requirements. “By recognising their unique needs, we also understand how small changes might bring positive change in their lives,” said Prem.

Outside of work, Prem enjoys cooking, gardening, attending parties, watching soccer and spending time with her family.
