At Regis Greenbank, music is bringing people together in powerful ways. The resident-led Music Group has become a highlight of the week, offering a space for creativity, connection and shared joy. What started as a casual jam session has grown into a vibrant community of performers, with residents and family members rehearsing and performing together.
Led by Harry, a Memory Support Unit (MSU) resident with a passion for guitar, the group encourages self-expression through music. Team Members at Regis Greenbank have seen a transformation in Harry since he began leading the group.
Asia Bogar, Lifestyle Coordinator at Regis Greenbank said, “Harry’s leadership has been incredible to witness, it has given him a sense of purpose and leadership and inspired other residents to embrace their musical talents.”
From its humble beginnings, just Harry and Lifestyle Assistant Paris jamming together, the group has grown to 10 members, including residents and family members. These residents practice at least twice a week, rehearsing songs to the sweet strums of Harry and Paris’ guitars.
Greenbank Music Group has performed twice for an audience, once at a Polynesian themed party and again at a 50s music event. Those lucky enough to be in the audience can attest to its impact. Bianca Barnet, National Manager said, the performers’ “dedication, enthusiasm and many weeks of rehearsal shone through in their performance.”
Asia added, “The Greenbank Music Group has truly transformed the energy in our Home. Residents are more engaged, confident and connected, thanks to the group’s inclusive and inspiring nature.”
At Regis, initiatives like the Greenbank Music Group reflect a deeper commitment to person-centred care. Residents are supported to express themselves, pursue their interests and feel a sense of belonging. Whether through music, art or meaningful moments shared each day, Regis encourages residents to be themselves and celebrates the individuality that makes each Home unique.
