To recognise National Pain Week, residents at Regis Holland Park took part in a thoughtful and engaging workshop led by their Clinical Care Managers. National Pain Week raises awareness about the impact of chronic pain and encourages open conversations about how it can be managed.
The session explored common types of pain experienced by older adults, practical strategies to reduce discomfort and techniques to support everyday wellbeing. It also created space for residents to reflect and connect.
Julia, one of residents, shared “We have to keep our minds positive to overcome pain. I’ve been doing this for years and it really helps me.” Mele added “We need to meet often. It really helps us manage our pain together.”
After the discussion, residents joined a seated Musical Zumba session that brought movement, music and laughter into the room. The activity offered a gentle way to stay active and socially connected.
Resident Helen after the session, said “What a lovely way to exercise. I love the music and being seated while moving makes it so enjoyable.”
It was a day filled with shared wisdom, connection and the healing power of movement. Regis Holland Park continues to support residents in finding ways to manage pain through education, activity and community.
