Residents and team members from Regis Ontario, Regis Sunraysia and Regis Home Care Mildura recently came together for a scenic cruise along the Murray River. With family members also joining, the afternoon was filled with shared stories and moments of reflection.
The enclosed boat offered a comfortable escape from the crisp 17-degree weather, with sunlight streaming through the windows and casting a warm glow across the deck. For many residents, the river holds deep personal meaning, having spent much of their lives in the region.
Doug reflected on his lifelong connection to the Murray. “I spent almost all of my life on the river, swimming and fishing,” he said. “It felt so good to be back near the water.”
Peter shared memories of exploring the riverbanks with his grandson. “We used to travel along the edge to find lookout points,” he said. “It’s nice to see it from the river’s side. The water birds and scenery are just breathtaking. The river gives a great feeling of tranquility.”
Sheryl, who grew up in America, expressed her admiration for the local landscape. “I adore our river and the wildlife.” she said.
The commentary from the boat’s captain added another layer of enjoyment. Pauline said, “The boat cruise was very good. The captain was very good at pointing out points of interest. Afternoon was good.” Lorraine agreed, adding, “Very pleasant afternoon on the river cruise. Music was great. The captain’s commentary was excellent.”
Maxine appreciated the effort behind the scenes. “Thank you to all the employees who organised and helped with the river cruise today,” she said. “A beautiful day of relaxation and fun. Loved the boat captain with his entertaining wit, plus the afternoon tea.”
