Regis Home Care brings peace of mind for David and Lucy. After a stroke three years ago, David needed extra support to remain at home with his wife Lucy. Staying at home together mattered most. With help from Regis Home Care they found the calm and practical support that lets them keep living side by side in the place they love.

“The help has been fantastic, really,” Lucy says. David receives assistance with showering three times a week, gardening and podiatry care. A Regis Home Care team member visits three times a week which gives Lucy time to rest and recharge. “It takes a load off. I can’t say how good that is.”

For Lucy, the heart of it is simple. They get to stay at home together. “It means the world to him and to me,” she shares. Their family feels reassured too. “Our kids know I can’t do this alone. The support gives them peace of mind.”

Relief changes the shape of their days. When the pressure of daily care is eased, families can spend their energy on quiet moments instead of constant worry. Lucy felt that shift straight away. “When they offered this service, it felt like a load lifted off your shoulders. It’s a relief and that makes a difference for both of us.”

Throughout his life, David has been a keen gardener who likes everything looking just right. Now, seeing the garden cared for by our services brings pride and comfort that reaches inside the house. “When I walk outside after the gardener has been, I think, ‘That’s just lovely,’” Lucy says. “It means a lot because David always took such pride in the garden.” Support like gardening helps keep familiar routines and the small pleasures that make home feel like home. It is part of what allows them to remain at home together and feel settled.

Lucy describes the Regis team as “absolutely fantastic, kind, caring and always listening.” Whether it is a regular visit or an extra request, help is a phone call away. “There’s nothing they won’t pick up and do,” she says. The reassurance is clear. If they need something, they can ask. If a week is harder than usual, there is a plan. The care fits their life and helps them stay together where they feel at ease.

Their story stretches across 61 years. They built a life and a home. They raised children. They have eight grandchildren and have not missed the milestones that matter. Today their rhythm is quieter. David rests. Lucy keeps the home steady and leans on support that matches what they need. The routine is simple. A team member arrives. The shower is safe and unhurried. The garden looks cared for. Appointments are booked. The phone is answered. Each piece gives space for the thing they value most, staying at home together.

After 61 years of marriage, David and Lucy are grateful for the care that lets them remain side by side in the home they love. “It’s a relief,” Lucy says.
