Leanne Redman is an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) at Regis Port Stephens, but her journey at Regis actually began in a cleaning role. Her natural ability to create trust and comfort with residents meant she soon moved to her current position.
Leanne takes the time to get to know each resident at Regis Port Stephens, learning how they like their tea or their favourite activities. Residents and families notice how she anticipates peoples’ needs and always seems to be exactly where she’s needed at any given time.
Whilst Leanne has close relationships with existing residents, she always goes the extra mile with new residents, especially those who may be struggling with the transition into aged care. One team member at Regis Port Stephens recalls, “there was one resident who had recently moved into the home who was really struggling with settling in. Leanne sat with her for days, just holding her hand and talking to her.”
Leanne never fails to make residents feel special, whether it’s making a special meal for their birthday, or taking a wool jumper home to wash because it won’t go in the Home’s laundry.
Leanne is a nature leader to the team around her. General Manager at Regis Port Stephens, Jill de la Lande, said, “she’s an incredible AIN, and a great role model to so many people. The feedback we get from relatives is incredible.”
Leanne’s dedication and passion to the residents at Regis Port Stephens has recently been recognised in the Regis Care Awards, where she was presented the Outstanding Carer award. It’s a well-deserved acknowledgment of the positive impact she makes every day at Regis.
