Sunny Das began his journey with Regis back in March 2022, as an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) at Regis Inala Lodge. Alongside this, Sunny was completing his studies in IT at university. So when he graduated and came across an opportunity for IT Service Desk Analyst role at Regis, he applied immediately.

Sunny says that his experience in both roles has been incredibly valuable for his professional growth.

In his work as an AIN, Sunny says the most rewarding aspect was forming genuine connections with residents. Even small moments, like helping someone feel comfortable, listening to their stories or simply being there when they needed support, reminded him how important the role is.

A memory Sunny’s taken with him from that role is when a resident at Regis Inala Lodge told him he had made her day easier by just taking the time to talk to her. He says, “it made me proud and reminded me of the value of compassion in any role.”

He’s carried this compassion into his current position and says, “understanding how Homes operate  gave me insight into how important timely IT support is. It helps me communicate better, respond with empathy and prioritise issues more effectively because I have worked on the floor myself.”

When reflecting on helping employees in our Homes he said, “moments like these make me proud because they show that the work we do in IT has a real, meaningful effect on the operations of our Homes and the wellbeing of both employees and residents.”

Thinking about a career in aged care?

Sunny encourages others to consider joining the aged care sector.

“My advice to anyone considering a career in aged care would be that it’s incredibly rewarding. You not only build practical skills but you also develop patience, empathy and resilience. If you enjoy supporting others and want a career where your work truly matters, aged care is a wonderful place to start.”

If you’re looking for a career that makes a real difference and has opportunities for progression, aged care offers a variety of roles where you can positively impact the lives of older Australians.
