Regis The Gap (Qld) residents recently hosted a country and western rodeo, inviting along four neighbouring Regis Aged Care homes for a day of fun and country charm.
Blessed with beautiful weather, the event brought residents outside and into the sunshine.
It was a true country rodeo, with a whip-cracking demonstration, pony performers and an ice-cream van. For some, it was an opportunity to see or try something new, for others it was a trip down memory lane.
David, who lives at Regis The Gap, said the rodeo bought back memories of living in the country. Having spent much of his life working on stations in central Queensland, David felt right at home at the rodeo. Events like these are developed in collaboration with residents like David, drawing on their life experiences and interests to help them continue enjoying the activities and experiences they have always loved.
The rodeo also had live country music, bringing everyone together to line dance, dance in their seats, or simply tap their feet along to the beat. Activities like these encourage gentle exercise whilst remaining accessible for all Regis residents.
Reflecting on the day, resident Clive was full of praise. “It was a fantastic day and well planned and presented,” he said.
