Residents at Regis East Malvern threw on their blue suede shoes and took a trip to Memphis via Hoyts Chadstone to catch a screening of Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Elvis’ on the big screen.

Settling into their reclining chairs armed with salty popcorn and sweet choc-tops, our residents couldn’t help but fall in love with the music biopic of the King of Rock ‘n Roll. Hips were swinging, and toes were tapping along to old favourites, with residents marvelling at Austin Butler’s star-making embodiment of the King.

Our Lifestyle team took the opportunity to get into the spirit by channelling the style of the 50s with fun rock outfits that residents adored.

The outing was inspired by Music Month, where we celebrate and engage residents in all music-related activities. The film’s release was perfectly timed as it allowed us to get out and about in the community and create a fun atmosphere to discuss different music genres. Our residents were indeed rockstars for a day.

Upon exiting the cinema, our Regis critics raved about the spectacle and were left wanting more despite the nearly three-hour runt ime. One resident said, “I loved it! It was something different. The Lifestyle team dressed up and danced with us, which was a lot of fun. Thank you to the Lifestyle team.”

The absolute highlight was seeing the smiles plastered across our residents’ faces as they stepped back in time to reminisce the music of their youth.

A little less conversation, a whole lot of cinematic magic!
