After two years working at Regis as a Personal Care Assistant, Irene’s values of care and compassion shine through in her current role at Regis Camberwell

Hailing from Saudi Arabia with over 10 years of experience in geriatric care, Irene immediately applied to Regis when she came to Australia, knowing it would build on her already established skillset.

Irene cares for residents in many ways, such as assisting them with daily tasks and things they cannot do or simply being a friendly face they can rely on.

“I help them do whatever they need. It could be physical or even emotional. Most of the time they need somebody to talk to,”

Irene feels honoured when residents share stories about their family and loves when they tell her about their lives. From this she understands the shift in their abilities and frustration that comes naturally with this.

“For example, it’s a very simple thing for some people to get dressed, but for some residents, it’s not simple. So when I help them get dressed and they feel happy, I feel joy.”

Recognition at Regis

“I do not need to be recognised for my work, but at Regis, the way they appreciate the employees across the organisation, I’ve never experienced that before,”

“I’m lucky enough to have supportive management and environment, residents really appreciate the care we give them, and that’s enough recognition for me,”

If you share similar values to Irene, a carers role at Regis might be right for you.
