Regis Port Macquarie turned up the heat by hosting its own Great Bake Off. The Home embraced the theme with a full week of baking demonstrations, cake decorating and cooking groups that brought residents together through shared experiences and a love of food.

Each day offered something new. Residents took part in activities including mixing, decorating and sharing traditional recipes and family favourites. Cupcake decorating was a highlight, with buttercream, fondant, marshmallows, icing and sugar crystals turning simple treats into colourful creations. Conversations around the table sparked memories of baking birthday and wedding cakes, with plenty of laughter, especially when a few cakes didn’t quite make it to the display.

The week wrapped up with a resident and team member Bake Off. Residents suggested recipes for the team to recreate, and everyone gathered for morning tea as three special judges awarded blue ribbons and champion bake awards. It was a joyful celebration of creativity, teamwork and the simple pleasure of sharing something homemade.

Weeks like this offer more than just fun. They support social connection, encourage creativity and help maintain fine motor skills. They also give residents a chance to share their stories, talents and traditions in a way that is meaningful and inclusive.

At Regis Port Macquarie, the Great Bake Off was a sweet success and a reminder of how food can bring people together and create lasting memories.
