Regis Chelmer was delighted to celebrate an incredible milestone recently, Yvonne’s 100th birthday. Surrounded by family, a few fellow residents and members of their care team, Yvonne marked the occasion with laughter and, of course, a slice of birthday cake.

Yvonne’s life is a story of resilience, love and adventure. She grew up in Brisbane, attending Wooloowin Primary School as one of five children. Her family roots run deep, and she fondly recalls the influence of her mother, who shaped her values and outlook on life.

In 1948, Yvonne married her husband, a union that would take her on a journey across the world. Together, they raised a close-knit family and spent seven years living in Lebanon before returning to Australia. Yvonne says some of her proudest moments include raising her children and travelling the globe with her husband.

When asked about her passions, Yvonne mentioned her love for gardening, old movies and the mysteries of Agatha Christie. These joys were a constant thread throughout her life.

Her advice for a good life is “Always maintain your independence.”

Happy 100th Birthday, Yvonne!
