Vanessa Sheriff is a familiar face at Regis Rosebud, where she works as a receptionist, personal carer, Circle of Care champion and workplace health and safety advocate. Her journey with Regis began during her placement as a carer, and she was thrilled to be offered a permanent position.

“I have always wanted to work in a role where I can help others and make a difference in their lives,” Vanessa says. That passion has guided her through nearly a decade with Regis, five years in her first stint and four years since returning.

One of Vanessa’s favourite parts of her role is welcoming residents and families when they first arrive. “I really feel proud when a resident tells me I helped them on their first day and made the transition into aged care easier,” she shares. For Vanessa, those first impressions matter and she enjoys building on those relationships as a personal carer.

Her commitment goes beyond day-to-day care. As a Circle of Care champion, Vanessa works to create a safe and supportive environment for residents and team members. She conducts monthly hazard checks, runs raffles throughout the year and organises theme days that bring people together. One of her proudest achievements was coordinating the Biggest Morning Tea, which raised $600 for the Cancer Council of Australia. “Everybody enjoyed themselves, and it felt great to contribute to such an important cause,” she says.

Vanessa also advocates for workplace health and safety, ensuring that both residents and team members feel secure and supported. Her proactive approach reflects her belief that safety and wellbeing are essential to quality care.

What keeps Vanessa motivated is the variety and challenge her role offers. “I’m happy that I’m always learning. Each day brings something new, and that’s what makes my work exciting,” she says.

Vanessa’s story is a testament to the opportunities at Regis for those who want to grow, learn and make a meaningful impact.
