Building relationships with residents is central to life at Regis Marlestone in Adelaide. For Jasmine, a Registered Nurse, those daily interactions — listening, learning and connecting — are what make her role both rewarding and personal.

“Spending time with residents is one of the most meaningful parts of work,” says Jasmine.

“I love talking to residents, listening to their stories and their experiences. You get the opportunity to learn a lot of things from them.”

Jasmine moved to Australia from India when she was just 22. Already trained as a nurse, Jasmine came to study public health, wanting to continue to grow her career.

“I always wanted to look after people,” she said.

Jasmine says working in aged care has given her the chance to make lasting relationships, something she didn’t expect when she started nursing.

“I get the opportunity to make connections and build rapport with residents,” she said.

With her family living in a different country, these connections have helped her settle into life in Adelaide and find a sense of belonging through her work.

Jasmine is currently stepping into an acting clinical care coordinator role, building on her experience and looking ahead to future opportunities.

“I love the environment, everyone is so welcoming. I love it.”

Looking ahead, Jasmine hopes to continue growing her career within Regis.

“My belief is you should do work which you enjoy. If you are enjoying that work, you can provide better care.”

For Jasmine, aged care has offered her more than a career, it’s provided a sense of belonging and a clear path to grow.

Employees like Jasmine bring more than clinical care to residents in Regis Homes. They build trust, create meaningful connections and help shape the kind of environment where residents feel comfortable and valued.
