Meet Lisa Mottershead, a Personal Care Assistant at Regis Sunraysia. She has been with Regis since 2009 and is passionate about aged care, having completed studies related to dementia and palliative care. Lisa also completed her Certificate IV in Leisure and Health and now works with the Lifestyle team one day a week. Working within the sector came naturally to Lisa, as she was inspired to “make a positive difference to the lives of residents who I care about every day.”

“No two days are the same” for Lisa. However, she always assists residents with their personal care, meals and providing support, as well as sitting and chatting with them; “there is something new to learn each day.” Lisa is always working diligently to ensure the needs of residents are being met. She loves working with the elderly and “listening to their stories,” considering it a “privilege to work in the Home.” Lisa finds her work incredibly rewarding as she gets to positively impact residents’ lives. She also “loves her job” because “having a team of workers from all departments makes for a positive workplace.”

Having worked in the aged care sector for over a decade, Lisa reiterates to anyone considering a similar path that “aged care is a very rewarding career; Building bonds with residents takes time but is so worthwhile.” “It can be challenging at times, yet very fulfilling and rewarding. If you are caring, empathetic and compassionate it’s a job for you.”

Outside of work, Lisa loves being around friends and family, walking her dog, spending time outdoors and travelling. She also enjoys restoring older furniture.

We commend and thank Lisa for her dedication over the last 13 years to the wellbeing of our residents at Regis Sunraysia.
