At Regis Lutwyche, Registered Nurse Seethal Joji has found a role that brings together skill and purpose. Her days are filled with moments that remind her why she chose aged care and why she continues to love it.
“What I love most about my role is that it’s incredibly rewarding,” Seethal says. “I truly enjoy building meaningful relationships with residents and seeing the positive impact of care.” Seethal reflects that it’s really not just about clinical tasks, it’s about being a steady, reassuring presence in someone’s life.
One moment stands out, after taking two weeks off, Seethal returned to find one resident in tears. “She gave me a big hug and said she had missed me so much. She told me I was one of her favourite team members and that she’d felt my absence.” That experience deepened Seethal’s sense of pride. “Since that day, I come to work with even more purpose, knowing that what we do truly matters.”
Regis has supported Seethal’s growth through ongoing training and a culture that encourages learning. “They’ve provided valuable education sessions like dementia care and wound management, as well as online training programs that help me improve my skills.” She credits the positive environment and strong teamwork for helping her feel confident and motivated.
The sense of community at Regis Lutwyche is something Seethal values deeply. “The teamwork and respect among colleagues create a positive environment that helps me stay motivated. The dedication of the team and the high standards we uphold make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Feeling appreciated is part of what keeps her going. “At Regis, I experience this through regular recognition for hard work and positive feedback from my colleagues, management and residents.” That recognition, paired with a supportive culture, makes her feel respected and energised to give her best every day.
To those starting out in aged care, Seethal offers simple but powerful advice. “Be patient with yourself and take things one step at a time. Nursing can be challenging, but it’s also very rewarding. Build good relationships with your team, listen carefully and don’t hesitate to speak up if you need support.”
Looking back on her journey, Seethal says, “Working at Regis has taught me the true value of compassion and patience in aged care. From the start, I’ve felt part of the team. Everyone works well together, which makes caring for residents easier and the workplace more enjoyable.”
Seethal’s story shows that aged care is more than a profession, it’s a chance to make a lasting impact, one relationship at a time.
