Regis Nedlands is delighted to welcome Melissa Retallack, its new General Manager, who joined the organisation in March 2023. With a diverse professional background spanning across various industries, including management roles within AFL and NRL clubs, insurance, and even the prestigious Crown Group, Melissa brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the aged care sector.

Having most recently worked in corporate and governance for a large Western Australian Community Aged Care and NDIS provider, Melissa is well-equipped to navigate the complex landscape of aged care and make a positive impact. The decision to transition into the aged care sector was driven by a strong desire to work within the human services field and contribute to the lives of older Australians and their families.

“I made a conscious decision to work within the human services sector and haven’t looked back! Using my skill set to make a positive difference in the lives of older Australians and their families through what can be a difficult transition is why I’ve transitioned into aged care. I find working in the industry a fulfilling and rewarding career choice, which aligns completely with my values,” says Melissa.

A typical day for Melissa is dynamic and fast-paced, with no two days being the same. Melissa says, “as I settle into my role, I am learning so much and I am looking forward to really getting to know our residents and team more.” By building strong relationships and fostering open communication, Melissa aims to create a supportive environment that allows both residents and employees to thrive.

One of the aspects that Melissa particularly appreciates about her role is the opportunity to “make a positive impact, not only on the lives of the residents but also on the frontline team.” By leading and guiding the team through the challenges they may encounter, Melissa believes in enabling their growth and development, fostering a rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Working with the elderly has always held a special place in Melissa’s heart. “I love their stories! I am always hoping to make a resident’s day by making them feel special and heard,” she says. Each interaction with the elderly is a chance to create meaningful connections and bring joy to their lives.

Regis is thrilled to have such a passionate and dedicated General Manager like Melissa on board. With her extensive background and genuine enthusiasm for making a difference, Melissa is poised to lead the organisation to new heights, ensuring that residents receive the highest standard of care and support. The entire team at Regis is excited to work alongside their new leader and collaboratively enhance the lives of older Australians across the community.
