Sam Waldron, Facility Manager at Macleod:

“Knowing the work we do every day makes our residents smile is truly rewarding and motivating”

Sam initially studied at Deakin University, completing a Commerce/Science degree largely focused on accounting, finance, psychology and IT. Whilst studying, Sam commenced work at Regis in 2010 in a part time capacity across Payroll and Workplace Health & Safety roles. The support Regis provided Sam led him to take on an Assistant Facility Manager role across multiple homes, before being appointed as Regis Macleod’s Facility Manager.

When did you join Regis?

I joined Regis in June 2010.

Why did you join?

I joined Regis as part of a general progression to further part time work during my studies – it was only as my time with Regis progressed that my loyalty and career focus began to grow. Through Regis’ support I was able to harness my career focus in line with my studies and begun working as a Financial Accountant in 2014. My movement to a Facility Manager role was bourn from an overarching desire to work with people, but also a passion to care for and drive improved outcomes for elderly residents.

What do you like about your role/ your team?

As a Facility Manager, I lead a team of exceptional people who work each and every day to improve the lives of our residents, demonstrating true care and love for our residents. I thoroughly enjoy working with this team, but most of all enjoy the time with our residents, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable and above all else, have a smile on their face.

What do you like about working with the elderly?

We have an amazing responsibility and opportunity to continue to drive continuous improvements in the lives of our elderly residents. Knowing the work we do every day makes our residents smile is truly rewarding and motivating, resulting in me loving my job. It is a career and industry I would highly recommend.
