The energy was unmistakable across Regis this World Music Day, with homes bringing music, connection and celebration to life in spectacular fashion.

Held annually on June 21st, World Music Day encourages people around the world to embrace the joy of music, whether by playing, listening, or simply appreciating the way it makes us feel.

At Regis Birkdale, residents and team members turned up the volume in true rock and roll style, featuring a tribute to Elvis Presley and a special appearance by Marilyn Monroe played by Club Services Manager Stephanie. Adding to the excitement, residents from Regis Wynnum joined in as part of the monthly inter-home visit, making the day even more special through shared music and connection. The atmosphere was electric as residents sang, danced, and reminisced. “It was so much fun singing with one of my favourite singers!” said resident Delys. Chris added, “We had a great time dancing to the beat and singing along.”

The celebration was complete with delicious sliders, nibbles, and drinks, enjoyed while watching the lively performances. Staff also joined in the fun, dressing up in rock and roll outfits and helping to create a vibrant, festive atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Regis Greenbank hosted a fabulous 50s-themed night, joined by residents from Regis Lucinda, Regis The Gap and Regis Musgrave. There were burgers, fries, milkshakes, live music, and a crowd that danced the night away. Special mention went to the resident-led performances and own choir, who lit up the night. “Your choir shined brightly again and dazzled us with your choice of songs,” said Kathleen, Lifestyle Coordinator from Lucinda.

The Shakespeare family, whose father Peter was in attendance, also joined the celebration and shared this heartfelt reflection. “What a fantastic night at Regis Greenbank’s Rock and Roll Fifties event! The atmosphere was full of energy and joy, with residents, staff, and visitors all getting into the spirit. It was heartening to see our carers letting their hair down and joining in the fun. A truly memorable evening for all.” They also gave special mention to Harry Mouton’s singing group for their outstanding performance, Paris for his standout guitar skills, Louisa for her impressive twist moves, and Asia for her impeccable organisation.

World Music Day is a global celebration of the power of music to connect and uplift. These moments speak to the heart of our Homes – joy, community and shared celebration that supports wellbeing in meaningful ways.
