The results are in – meet the winner of the Regis 2025 Art Competition!

The annual Regis Art Competition is open to residents and their families. This year’s theme was ‘Through My Eyes: Moments That Shaped Me’

After receiving so many wonderful and creative submissions from across our Regis Homes, we are thrilled to congratulate Sandra Williams from Regis Redlynch as our winning piece!

Sandra’s stunning piece reflects a lily pond scene with koi fish swimming underneath vibrant green water lilies. Sandra said, “I was so pleased with how it turned out. Every time I look at it, I’m reminded of the feeling of accomplishment and joy that comes with creating something that works exactly the way you envision it.”

Sandra’s piece, ‘Untitled’, makes her think of calmness, reflected in the painted still water.

She wanted to make the work as realistic as possible, whilst still maintaining its artistic flair. To create the work, she used acrylic paint on canvas, and says, “when I started, I lost track of time, it would have been a few weeks, but it felt like it went very quickly.”

Sandra has been creating art for many years. After becoming sick, she found herself unable to participate in some of the activities other young people her age were doing. However, she found a silver lining in painting and has been creating art ever since.

Sandra says the win means a lot to her. “When I found out, I was very joyful and impressed that I could share it with other people. Knowing that I had done something magical like that was good for my soul.”

Sandra’s artwork will be featured as the graphic design on the Regis Care Awards nomination cards, which will be distributed to all employees who received a nomination this year.

Regis would also like to congratulate Sheila Hall from Regis Nedlands who was our runner-up. Sheila’s “The Sunflower” expresses strength, beauty and colour. Sheila said that painting it brought her “much happiness and peace.”

Initiatives like this at Regis allow residents’ talents and creativity to shine. Sandra’s beautiful work is a prime example of how Regis celebrates personal passions, as they become a source of independence, self-expression, and connection with others.
